Breaking the Cycle of OCD's Invisible Spirals: Mindfulness Strategies for Mental Compulsions
May 07, 2026
LIVE Workshop: Wednesday, July 29th 2026
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is frequently associated with overt behaviors, like hand-washing. But for many, the real battle is hidden. Mental compulsions, like ruminating, neutralizing, and internal checking, are covert behaviors that intensify distress and keep those with OCD trapped in internal loops that pull them away from their lives.
This workshop will go beyond the visible to tackle the internal rituals that keep clients stuck. You’ll learn how to apply ACT and mindfulness tools to break these cycles, exploring how these strategies also serve clients struggling with chronic overthinking across the anxiety spectrum. By blending psychoeducation with experiential practice, this workshop will equip you to help clients notice their mental spirals and pivot back toward their values.
In this workshop, you will:
-
Learn how OCD is maintained by mental compulsions and how mindfulness/ACT help clients disengage from these patterns.
-
Engage in a sound-based focused attention practice that trains the capacity to notice, label, and disengage from mental compulsions.
-
Utilize psychoeducation, values clarification and committed actions to help clients shift their fundamental relationship with obsessive thoughts and related emotions.
Wednesday, July 29th 2026 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM ET. Zoom. In your timezone: 1 PM PT, 9 PM BST, 10 PM CEST
