Discovering Your Neurotype in Mindfulness: Sensory-Aware Practices that are Neuro-Affirming

member workshops Aug 27, 2025

LIVE Workshop: Thursday, September 25, 2025

Neurodivergent folks often navigate a world not designed for all sensory and social needs—and this includes traditional mindfulness and therapeutic environments. Practices that emphasize stillness, silence, or unspoken norms can unintentionally exclude or overwhelm those with sensory sensitivities or different ways of relating.

This experiential workshop invites helping professionals to deepen their understanding of the challenges neurodivergent clients may face in navigating a predominantly neurotypical world. Participants will be guided through a Mindful Self-Inventory practice to identify which sensory inputs are most soothing, and how to apply these insights to customize practices. We’ll also explore how to support clients in using their mindfulness skills not just to self-soothe, but to self-advocate—in therapeutic groups, one-on-one sessions, and daily life.

Whether you work with autistic clients, ADHDers, highly sensitive, or those anywhere along the spectrum of neurodivergence, this workshop will deepen your capacity to offer mindfulness as a supportive, inclusive, and agency-enhancing resource. As many of us facilitators are also neurodivergent, these reflections also serve as an opportunity to strengthen our own awareness and professional practice.
