Embodied Mindfulness Practices to Support Cancer Recovery and Survivorship
May 21, 2025
LIVE Workshop: Tuesday, June 24, 2025
How can we support individuals navigating cancer to reconnect with a body—and a life—that may feel profoundly altered? For many, the experience of illness brings grief, uncertainty, and a deep sense of disconnection from the body. In this experiential workshop, Dr. Linda Carlson draws on decades of clinical and research experience in oncology to introduce mindful movement as a powerful tool for fostering embodied awareness, self-compassion, and acceptance.
Grounded in the Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery (MBCR) program, co-founded by Dr. Carlson, this session explores mindfulness-based approaches to supporting cancer recovery and survivorship and a mindful movement practice designed to gently support individuals through pain, fatigue, anxiety, and loss. Participants will also explore how to sensitively adapt and deliver mindfulness practices in clinical, therapeutic, and supportive care settings—with attention to embodiment, trauma-informed facilitation, and the unique lived experience of those facing illness or survivorship.
