Preventing Depressive Relapse: Using the “Nourishing and Depleting Activities” Structured Approach with Clients

member events Oct 31, 2025

LIVE Workshop: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025

Many clients who have experienced depression remain vulnerable to relapse when faced with everyday stressors or low moods. These moments can re-trigger old patterns of negative thinking and rumination, leading to emotional depletion and disengagement from life-giving activities.

This practical, skill-building workshop explores the Nourishing and Depleting Activities exercise from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)—a structured approach that helps clients identify, track, and rebalance their daily activities to strengthen resilience and prevent relapse. Participants will learn how to guide clients in recognizing automatic patterns, cultivating present-moment awareness, and implementing mindful behavior change strategies that promote wellbeing and sustainability.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Understand how patterns of rumination and depletion contribute to vulnerability for depressive relapse.

  • Experience the Nourishing and Depleting Activities practice as a tool to build awareness and support mindful behavior change.

  • Apply this framework to help clients identify meaningful shifts that restore balance and strengthen resilience in daily life.

This workshop includes on-demand CE learning and resources:

  • A PDF Facilitation Guide: Guiding Clients Through the Nourishing & Depleting Activities Exercise
  • On-Demand learning on:
    • Breaking the Relapse Cycle Through Mindful Awareness and Nourishing Activities
