4:00–5:30 p.m. ET · Live on Zoom
1.5 continuing education hours · Certificate included
Love does not end when someone close to us dies. Many people continue to experience an ongoing relationship with the deceased through memories, values, rituals, and a continuing sense of connection.
In this workshop, Celina explores how continuing bonds can support meaning-making and adaptation after loss. Through mindfulness, reflective imagery, and creative exercises, helping professionals will learn practical ways to support clients in maintaining meaningful connection while considering how those bonds are functioning within the grieving process.
Your registration also includes a three-part on-demand Learning & Practice Series, Facilitation Guide, professional transcripts, and Certificate of Completion. Direct purchasers receive permanent access; members retain access while subscribed.
In this workshop, you will:
- Understand continuing bonds and how ongoing connection with someone who has died can support adaptation, identity, and meaning after loss.
- Experience loving-kindness and guided imagery practices for exploring connection with someone who has died.
- Apply the continuing bonds approach in practice by exploring personalized rituals and forms of connection that reflect each client’s beliefs, values, culture, and relationship.

Live Workshop + Q&A with Celina Carter
Explore continuing bonds through grief theory, reflective practice, and clinical application, with opportunities for guided practice and Q&A.
Three-Part Learning & Practice Series
Explore how grief can involve maintaining an emotional attachment in an altered form rather than severing ties with the person who has died. Consider how beliefs, values, culture, attachment, and identity shape continuing bonds and how these connections may offer comfort, guidance, and meaning.
Experience two guided practices for exploring ongoing connection after loss. Through Loving-Kindness for Continuing Bonds, offer and receive words of loving-kindness with someone who has died. Through guided imagery, imagine a calm place and offer something meaningful to the person, noticing what emerges and what may feel supportive in the grieving process.
Explore how to create a supportive container for grief, meet clients within their beliefs and values, and develop personalized rituals and practices. Consider whether the relationship is supporting adaptation and continued living and when further support may be needed.
Facilitation Guide: Supporting Continuing Bonds in Grief Work
Translate the continuing bonds approach into client conversations and clinical practice with reflection questions, considerations for adapting practices to individual beliefs and values, and guidance for exploring how the relationship is supporting adaptation after loss.
